Is my gown insured during the process?
Yes! Every gown is covered up to a $2,000 declared value at no extra charge. If your dress is worth more, you can purchase additional coverage for $50 per $1,000 of declared value.
How does the process work with Splash Laundry?
Simply drop off your gown at our store during staffed hours (7 days a week, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM) or schedule a pickup through our website. We’ll handle everything from there—your dress is shipped securely to Wedding Gown Preservation Co., where it’s cleaned and preserved. You’ll receive tracking updates by email, and once your gown is back at Splash Laundry, we’ll send you a text that it’s ready for pickup or delivery, whichever you choose.
What will I see in the display window of the preservation chest?
Your gown and veil will be visible in the display window. Any additional items, such as gloves or garters, are neatly wrapped and stored underneath the gown or at the bottom of the chest when possible.
What exactly is the cleaning process?
Every gown is assessed individually when it arrives. The safest cleaning method for that specific fabric and design is chosen. After cleaning, your gown is fitted on an acid-free bust form and carefully sealed inside an acid-neutral preservation chest. Shoulder pads or bust pads are removed (to prevent long-term damage), wrapped in tissue, and stored beneath your gown.
What stains can your process remove?
Our professional process removes about 95% of stains, including blood, grease, tar, perspiration, mud, grass, wine, cake icing, and other sugars. Each gown is carefully evaluated, and the safest, most effective stain removal methods are applied.

How do I track the status of my gown?
When you drop off or schedule a pickup, simply provide an email address. You’ll receive email notifications when your gown is received by our preservation partner and again when it ships back to Splash Laundry. When your gown is delivered back to Splash Laundry, you will be notified via text message to arrange a delivery or pickup in store. What kinds of repairs can be done to my gown?
Our preservation partner employs highly trained specialists who can handle most gown repairs for a nominal fee. If you’d like an estimate, note it on your paperwork and you’ll receive a call with a detailed repair quote before any work begins.
What else can I send along with my gown?
As a special benefit for Splash Laundry customers, you may include up to 5 accessories at no additional cost. Accessories can include your veil, train, hat, jacket, shawl, cape, robe, duster, ring pillow, money bag, purse, hanger, handkerchief, gloves, garter, scarf, or bow. Additional accessories may be preserved for a small fee.
How long will preservation take?
On average, gowns take 4–10 weeks to be carefully cleaned, preserved, and returned. We want to make sure every gown receives the individual attention it deserves.
